Psalm 4

1. Thank you Lord so much for answering my prayers. You do not allows answer them immediately or in the way I originally desire, but You are always faithful to answer them in the way You see best. May my heart desire what you desire, and may my prayers be pleasing to you. You are my righteousness. Apart from You I am nothing but wretched sinfulness. Left to myself I would follow only after unrighteousness. May I praise you for giving me your righteousness through Christ. You have taken care of me both temporarily and eternally. You are both gracious to me and abundantly give of your lovingkindness.

2. May I remember what I once was. Full of unrighteousness always seeking after my own desires as the world does. The world follows after its own lusts, and loves only that which can never save and have no eternal value. What a waste of time. May I be honorable to you in my living before the unrighteous world. May I not reproach your Name, nor give a false testimony to who you are. May those who seek after foolishness see the error of their ways and give you glory because of my testimony.

3. Those who remain in their ways and rejects Christ remains an enemy of God. How grateful and thankful I am to know that you have set apart those of us who have been saved by the blood of Christ for you eternal blessing. You only decide to listen to those who are Yours. You do not even hear the prayer of the wicked. Their breath is a waste of air. Thank you for the privilege of knowing You and having access to you in prayer. May I always take advantage of this time.

4. May I tremble at the thought of your perfect righteousness. May the thought of Your holiness drive me to my knees and keep me from sinning. On my own I stumble. Frequently, I forget to look to you for my strength and I stumble. Remind me of Your holiness and your desire for righteousness in my life. May I think all day and night of Your truths and Your Word, may it lead to righteous living.

5. Thank you Jesus for being the one time sacrifice for all my sins. May I always trust in its power and not try to earn my way to you. May I always recognize that it is the sacrifice of Christ that is sufficient for the forgiveness of sins, not my behavior. I must always trust that Your blood was sufficient for my sins. I cannot earn my way to You.

6. The world is so often bleak and dark. Lord show your face through Your word and Your church. Light up the world with your holiness that they may see Your goodness and desire to follow You. May our lives be a light to a dark world that needs You.

7. Lord make me content. May I not look upon the wicked and envy their temporary gains and pleasures for you a greater than anything they can achieve. In You and You alone is true joy and contentment. Help me to truly believe that in my heart. Help me to remember the end of the wicked and the fact that nothing they can receive here on earth will satisfy them as much as You can.

8. Because of all of these things I can lie down and rest in peace. I can know that My God and Savior is in control of everything. Nothing happens to me that is outside of Your knowledge. In You I rest and sleep in perfect peace. The peace that surpasses all understanding.
