1. Listen to my prayer to you Lord. Oh great God that you are, and insignificant sinful man that I am what an amazing thought to think that you would listen to me. May you recognize my hearts groanings for you that I may not be able to express to you in words.
2. Lord I recognize my need for your divine help. May you always be the king in my life, the one who reigns on high and directs my every thought and decision. May I truly recognize the gift of prayer to the most High God that will listen to my requests.
3. May You be the first thought on my mind when I wake up. May my day be surrounded with thoughts of you. May You hear my prayer and may I eagerly watch to see what your Divine Hand will do. May I not pray out of doubt, but of mighty faith that You will accomplish all you desire to do in me and through me.
4. Lord, keep me from sin. May my prayers constantly be of repentance and protection from temptation, for You hate sin and cannot be in the presence of it. How hard I find it to pray to You sometimes when I have let sin come into my heart. You cannot have anything to do with evil and take no pleasure in it. May my heart desire the same hatred for sin, may I crave righteousness and hate sin with the passion that You do.
5. Lord I pray You would give me humility. It is well understood that you hate pride and arrogance. The boastful man relies only on his own strength, and makes himself God. Only a humble man can recognize his sinfulness and bow his knee to You. You hate the boastful and everything they are about. Give me humility, help me to constantly rely on Your power and Your strength, and remember my inability to do anything good on my own.
6. One day you will destroy all those who have not recognized You as Lord. Those who speak lies, deceive and harm others You want nothing to do with. Help me to remember that apart from You that would be me.
7. But thankfully it is not me, because of your great lovingkindness. Because of the work of Your Son on the cross and my faith in His atoning work, I am able to confidently come before You and enter into Your House with thanksgiving and praise. Thank You for loving me enough to send Your Son to die on the cross for my sins. May I revere and praise You for all You have done.
8. Constantly remind me of my need for Your strength. Remind me that I cannot do it on my own. May I humbly submit to your righteous lead. May I not take after the sinful world that takes their own lead and relies on their own strength. O Lord, how you know it is in my sinfulness to want to do things in my own power. Help me be humbly led by You into righteousness. Make Your will for me clear, and give me the strength to follow Your path.
9. Help me to remember what I was apart from you. The sinful world that does not recognize You is one that is unreliable, constantly lying, and desiring to harm others. Keep my tongue from lying and flattery. All of these things lead only to destruction.
10. Lord give us a desire to help those who are in sin that need you, for one day You will hold them guilty for all their iniquities and you will destroy them. May that cause me to fear what I was saved from and help me to show others where they are heading. For you will hold them accountable for all their sins done apart from Christ. They rebel against You and only desire their own way. They will get their way when they spend eternity apart from You in hell. Oh Lord, keep me from this destruction.
11. Thinking about what You have saved me from, may my heart rejoice every day. Fill my heart with the joy of remembrance of all that You have done in my salvation. May we take advantage of the shelter you provide from sin and from harm. May we love You with all of hearts. May our lives overflow with our gratitude for all You have done. May we exult You always and sing of Your praises forever.
12. We can be joyful and praise You forever when we remember that You have blessed us beyond what we can even know. Those of us who are righteous, not because of us, but because of You, have been given so much. Thank You for our families, our homes, our church, our friends, Your Word, and most importantly Your Son. You surround us with Your favor as a father would his son. Praise You Lord for all You have done.
